Using 8 Tribes

We apply the Tribes philosophy to the problems of business and society in a range of different ways.

The Hunting Tribes

When it comes to consumption, the 8 tribes become 5. It's difficult to separate out the shopping strategies of North Shore Cuba St and Remuera - though the stuff they buy might differ markedly, they share the quest for the new and are the Power Shoppers.

And equally, rising prices have limited the difference between Papatoetoe and Otara tribes. They're both part of the Cost Cutters tribe of hunters, There's More

The 8 Tribes Profiler

What do your customers and stakeholders value? What do they believe in? How do their values compare with New Zealanders in general? How are they likely to respond to the things you plan or the events that are unfolding?

We uses the core 8 Tribes Profiler to reflect the deeper realities of the relationships between organisations and their customers.

Internally we use our 8 Tribes Team Profiler to help organisations understand their tribal identities and the way they come across to their customers and stakeholders.

8 Tribes Research

As part of our on-going tribal investigations, Windshift runs a voluntary, collaborative research project among people who complete the online 8 Tribes profiler [ www.8tribes.co.nz ]. Through regular questioning we are building our understanding of the way these tribes are growing and changing – and on what issues their differences are most clearly visible.

We use 8 Tribes directly as a way to understand customers and staff and to provide insight into the way people respond to crisis and challenge
